We are so excited to be sharing five fun things to do in Cape Town this winter
Winter holidays call for cuddles, fireplace snuggles and family time together! We are so excited to be sharing five fun things to do in Cape Town this winter! As this city offers such a variety – I decided to feature a place to stay, a place to play, a place to dine and have some wine, a movie to see and a shopping spree!
A place to stay …
Trails End | Grabouw | Kids Holiday Programme
As sure as it is fun, travelling with kids can also be exhausting if we don’t plan this time out, ensuring both parents and kids have a blast and get some time to rejuvenate. I was very excited to see that Trails End Bike Hotel offers a holiday programme for families with young kids staying at the hotel. It is also the first bike hotel, catering to the special needs outdoor enthusiasts have when travelling. They further offer an outdoor pump track and fun activities including hiking, cycling, table tennis and more.
Kids Holiday Programmes: 18-20 and 25-27 June 2019 and 2-4 July 2019
Where: Trails End Bike Hotel, Elgin Valley

A place to play…
Bugz Playpark, 56 Tarentaalstreet, Joostenbergvlakte

Workshop date: 28 June @ 11:00; but they’re open every day during the school holidays for play.
Workshop cost: R130 per child; (Includes 1x adult entrance, 1 x child entry and activity. Rides excluded)

One of our favourite stops is Klein Joostenberg as it is an easy drive from the City bowl, Northern Suburbs of Cape Town and the Cape Winelands. What I love about this venue is that it really caters to every need. They have an Acrobranch venue offering zip lines and other adventurous obstacle courses in the trees. After a fun morning you can taste some wine or locally brewed beer at Stellies Taproom as you dine, or picnic on their lush lawns. They further offer chariot rides and a nursery to stroll through.
When: Daily

A movie to see…
If your family members are into movies, then you will be happy to hear that Spiderman will be launching towards the end of the winter school holidays. In the “far from home” release Peter Parker and his friends go on a summer trip to Europe. Peter will have to agree to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of creatures that cause natural disasters and destruction throughout the continent. The movie serves as a great kids party inspiration.
Expected age restriction: PG 13 (not yet rated)
When: From 3 July 2019

A shopping spree…
Mall meanderings became a valid pastime activity as shopping centres no longer just cater to frequent shoppers but also for families and experiences. These holidays you can visit some of your favourite shopping centres and reward the kids with some fun adventures like the Ice Slide at Cape Gate and an educational workshop at Willowbridge lifestyle shopping centre. Cape Gate gets my vote for the most fun and adrenalin pumping outing while Willowbridge ensures kids get educated as well as entertained!
When: June/July Public school holidays 2019
More information: Ice Slide at Cape Gate.
Educational workshops at Willowbridge
