- Half carton of eggs
- Wheat seeds
- Planting soil
- Planting rocks
- Lots of water +sunlight
Using a pairing knife, carefully make a couple slits about 3/4ths of the way toward the top of an egg. Remove the top and pour out the egg contents (do this in the morning and make scrambled eggs!). Do this for each egg.
After removing the tops of all six eggs, carefully wash them out and let them dry in the sun for a few hours
This part can be a lot of fun for kids of all ages. Place 3-4 small rocks at the bottom of each egg. This will help with water drainage.
Next you'll place a small amount of soil into each egg, and then one layer of wheat kernals on top
Add a small layer of dirt on top, just enough to cover the layer of kernels. Water them, and place them in a sunny window.
You'll have sprouts popping up in about 2-3 days and a wheat grass in about 5-7. There are many nutritional benefits of wheat grass, but I think it just looks pretty. Especially growing in egg shells.
