Make a sticker line-up for an awesome quiet activity!
Ever have a day where you just need a minute of quiet? Maybe a second or two without answering a question? Or a quick moment to sit and have your coffee?
Sticker Line-Up just might be the answer to your toddler activity prayers – and bonus: there’s loads of learning going on here too!
Setting up this sticker line-up activity took seconds!
Materials:
- Dot stickers
- Butcher paper
I rolled out a 3 foot long section of butcher paper for my toddler and that was the perfect size for his three year old attention span. Any longer and he would have lost interest. Any shorter and he would have ended early.
I drew a mix of zig-zag, curly, loopy, and swirly lines down the center of the paper. His goal: use his stickers to “trace” the line.
Sticker line-up was an instant hit!
I showed my toddler quickly what the “idea” was in this project and it was an instant winner. The amount of quiet concentration that immediately went into this activity was amazing.
He was hooked and loved peeling the stickers from their sheet and lining them up on the paper.
What sort of learning is happening in sticker line-up?
So much learning is happening in this activity. My toddler is working on:
- Fine motor skills
- Hand eye coordination
- Pinching techniques
The sticker line-up activity has so many possibilities: use it for patterning, color recognition, and even literacy – maybe add letters to the stickers?
My 19 month old isn’t quite ready for activities like this so I set her up with a plain piece of paper and a sheet of stickers for her own play. She was equally as hooked!
This sticker line-up was a fantastic hit for us – we all loved it! I loved having a second to drink my coffee in peace and quiet, and my toddler loved following the sticker path down the hall way. This will be a regular in our house from now on!
Would your toddler enjoy playing sticker line-up too?
